Choosing a Keyboard System

CHAIRLINES Choosing a Keyboard Tray and Mechanism

Before viewing keyboard system options please consider the following:

1: Desk depth- most of our keyboard track lengths are at least 22" in depth.  This means that your desk should be at least as long or longer to allow for the keyboard tray to put completely under your desk while not in use.

2: Do you need the tray to come above the work desk or below?  This will require you to choose keyboard arms that allow for these height adjustments.

3:  What is the desk material?  Keyboard systems cannot be installed on particle board desks as they are not durable and will give way to the weight and movement of the keyboard system.  The desk needs to be solid or pressed wood.

4: There should be no lip or metal runners under the desk, this obstruct the movement and function of the keyboard tray.

5: What is the shape of the desk? Is it 'L' shaped or does it have a curve?  Certain keyboard trays are better for shaped desks and allow for easier usage.  Look for trays that pivot or turn when they are pulled out from underneath the surface of the desk, this will allow for easier usage.

6:  Do you need or would you like a wristrest built into the keyboard tray? Wristrests support the wrists while typing or mousing and are made from foam or gel.  Some keyboard trays have the wristrest built in and others have it as additional option.
